As an artist Kris is sensitive to the energy present in all things and strives to bring the peace, wisdom, sorrow, urgency or other expressions of her subjects into her paintings. Seeing the inner spaces and giving them focus is a major part of her work.
Pastel is a malleable, vibrant and immediate medium and the pure pigment of soft pastels allows for a devotion to expression, textures and light. Pastels interact building layers of color each still keeping its own identity yet influencing the whole in subtle and spontaneous new ways.
Kris has lived in three countries and is passionate about the role of art in creating dialogue and understanding between different cultures, peoples and their landscapes.
Kris’s work has been recognized and awarded in the Southeastern US Juried Exhibition, Possibilities in Pastel, 2011. Her work is currently published in “Where Guestbook, Tampa Bay 2011”. Her work has received numerous awards in local art exhibits. “Micanopy Sam” was selected to be part of the 42nd Annual Exhibition, “Enduring Brilliance” 2014 Pastel Society of America at the National Arts Club, in New York City. “Arizona Dave” was juried in to The Bennington in Vermont in 2014.
